Fishing has been slow the last couple weeks. A trip out west was more a visiting vacation so the fishing equipment didn’t make it out other than for a couple casting lessons for friends.
So to remind myself there still are successful fishermen out there, here is a photo from Michael Oberman.

I can’t say I have ever been in a position where what I have caught is more than I can handle but it looks like that is the case for this guy.
I came across this photo on Flickr. Michael (the photographer) has some fantastic photos including many of other hunters of fish like this Great Blue Heron.
Its a good reminder that we share the resources with a wide variety of creatures and it is a privilege to be able to spend time on the water fishing.
Last weekend we took a short trip to Lake Placid, NY. Coming from a fishing perspective, one of the best known features of the area is the Ausable River. Since this was not specifically a fishing trip, time on the water was limited. I did manage one early morning brown trout on the second day. The water was pretty high but falling. This week conditions should be great – typical.
